We can't deny it: there’s never been a better time in history to write, record and mix music from home.

You can get audio gear for just a few hundred dollars, and there’s plenty of free content on music out there.

So why is it that so few musicians achieve the success they want financially and musically?

Is it because they don't work hard?

Nope. If it were, the street busker singing his voice hoarse everyday would be successful, but he's not.

Is it because they don't have talent?

Nope. There's countless talented people that come and go inside the music industry.

Maybe it's all down to luck?

Nope. I've seen people who've gotten the best opportunities and lucky breaks, but still fizzled out after a while.

Is it because they're lacking technique and knowledge?

Nope again.

What was it that separated those who succeeded in music, from those who didn’t?

After working in the music industry for almost 2 decades, let me tell you the truth:

Most musicians who can't succeed are lacking one of
the"3 Pillars of Music Success"

Most home studio owners I know struggle to finish songs they start.

And if they start a song, they don’t know which musical direction to take it.

Or if they’ve written some songs, most of them are sitting unheard in hard drives in their bedroom!

And even if they’re massively talented in music production, or vocals or an instrument - they’re struggling to find opportunities to showcase their talent!

Does any of that sound familiar?

It's weird - despite having the Internet and audio gear being affordable, it's like there's a glass ceiling stopping people from being the musicians they want to be.

But what if I told you that there's just one simple solution that helps you make the music you want, define your sound, and get the opportunities you need to take your music to the next level?

Before I reveal this one secret,
let me introduce myself:

My name is Graham Cochrane, and I’m the founder of Recording Revolution, one of the world’s most popular audio blogs with over 200,000 monthly readers and 400,000 YouTube subscribers.

But when I first started making music nearly 2 decades ago, I was in a similar situation.

I constantly struggled to finish songs I started.

Barely anyone but my circle of friends heard my music.

And opportunities, whether as a performer or as an audio engineer - they were often slim and hard to come by.

But after 17 years of working in the music industry, I’ve come to realise that there was one thing that helped me create a sustainable career as a recording and mixing engineer.

And it wasn’t just in audio engineering - when I looked at friends of mine who were successful in the music industry, whether as other engineers or as music producers - they had this one thing too.

What was this one secret?

As simple as it sounds...

It's having a music network.

When you have a music network around you, your chances of succeeding in music go up exponentially - it gives you 3 pillars of music success that most musicians don’t have today.

Let me explain what these 3 pillars are:

1. Feedback

Most people who make their own music today can rarely get good, honest feedback from another musician.

In the past, if you wanted to record a song, you’d have to record it in a studio, where you could get instant feedback from the audio engineer, studio manager, and any musicians you’ve brought in to help record a track.

Today - just open up a virtual instrument, and try out a hundred different plugins and sounds. But there’s no one around you to give you the feedback you need, to know how your music sounds to someone else.

It’s easy to get stuck in your own feedback loop, and your mix never ends up anywhere.

2. Accountability

Yes, we’ve got all the technology around us to make music. But in the past, records and songs got done quicker. What could take you months to do today, would be done in weeks, because studio time is expensive!

When you’ve got to go into a recording studio to make a song, and you’re on a record label’s budget - you’re highly motivated to finish whatever you start.

There’s no “Uh, I just can’t write today. Writer’s block.”.

There’s no “I just don’t feel creative today, I’m gonna call it here” - someone’s still got to pay for the studio time!

As a result - you’d walk into a studio ready to rumble, no matter how you felt. You’d write a song, you’d record something, and because there were limited amounts of tape available, you could only do so many takes.

You had to make each take and recording/mixing decision count.

Today, if you do a bad take? Ah, just do another 50, you’ll find the right one.

Don’t feel like working on your mix today? Man, I’ll just do it tomorrow....

But when you’ve got a network around you, whether it’s in a studio, or just musicians you’re regularly in contact with:

They’re not going to take your excuses - “What do you mean, you were busy? Come on, you could’ve put at least an hour into finishing that mix, right?”

They’ll call you out when you’re slipping - “Hey, that mix was supposed to be done 2 weeks ago! What have you been up to!”

They’ll motivate you to keep going - “That hook was great. Honestly, it could have some serious potential if you finished the song!”

And finally, a network gives you...

3. Opportunity

Even if you’re not connected with high-level music producers and artists, that doesn’t mean a network can’t give you opportunity.

If you have the right mindset, you’ll be surprised by how fast you can climb up the ladder.

Remember: people want to help out people they like!

So if you help out a friend with his mix, and he knows a producer who’s looking for an audio engineer, guess who he’s going to call?

Or if you’re a songwriter and you’ve helped your friend pen out a great song, and he’s got another friend looking to pay a songwriter… you get my drift.

And it doesn’t matter whether you’re a songwriter, an artist, a producer, engineer… when you’ve established what you do in your network, new doors and opportunities will start opening up consistently for you.

How a music network changed my music career

When I first started as a garage audio engineer for my bandmates in highschool, I didn’t have much connections with anyone besides that.

But when I went to audio school, I got plugged into the network of students, teachers, and musicians there. When I finished audio school, I kept in touch with the friends I made, and as I started Recording Revolution, the network I had kept growing and growing.

As Recording Revolution grew in size, I ended up getting featured on Huffington Post, Yahoo, Avid, and even interviewed on Pensado's Place, the show of audio engineer Dave Pensado (Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and many more).

And over time, my network grew and grew and grew.

Now, I’m able to send texts to Grammy-nominated producers, or music industry pros with decades and decades of experience working with the best artists in the world asking for help.

I'm not sharing this to brag: I'm sharing this to show you the power of having a music network.

Because believe me: when you’ve got a circle of friends around you at the top of their music game, you’re motivated to not drop the ball!

But as I looked back on my 17 years in music, I started thinking…

How can YOU have such a music network?

It’s not right that while there’s a revolution in recording technology, there’s actually been a decrease in the community and network in music.

It’s actually harder to build up a music network today than it was in the past.

In the past - even if you were a one man show, you’d build a network by working in a studio to record your music, and you couldn’t do it by yourself. Audio gear was just too expensive back then!

You’d make friends with the studio manager, the audio engineer, studio musicians… but today, we’re all stuck in our audio caves at home.

That’s why today, I want to help you build a network similar to the one I’m lucky to have.

I want to bring you into my music world, to learn the things I’ve learned from being on the inside of the music industry…

Recording Revolution VIP

A vibrant, active community of like-minded artists, producers, engineers and musicians working together to take their music to the next level

Recording Revolution VIP is my exclusive online community site designed to give the 21st century musician all they need to build a great music network and more.

But don't just hear it from me.

Here's what VIP members have to say about their experience:

They're collaborating with each other on their music:

And getting vital feedback on their songs:

So here’s what VIP consists of:

1. The exclusive Recording Revolution VIP forum ($400 value)

This is what people thousands of dollars to go to audio school for - a community of individuals all interested in making music, looking to connect and form friendships with others.

If you’re a mixing engineer looking to improve your mixing skills and build up your portfolio - you’ll be able to connect with other artists and mix their songs.

If you’re an aspiring artist looking for a songwriter, you’ll be able to find that easily.

Not to mention - with people all over the world joining VIP, you’ll be able to find instrumentalists of all sorts inside the community. Need a cellist? Need a guitarist?

Put up a thread asking for one, and you’ll be surprised at what you can find.

I can’t tell you how much I wish I had something like this when I first started out in music, even though I went to audio school.

Don’t get me wrong - audio school was great for accountability, and for learning the foundation skills of music production, and audio engineering.

But sometimes, the atmosphere in the classroom can become quite competitive.

As a result, instead of students helping each other out, it becomes a competition on who’s the best in the room.

We won’t have any of that here in VIP.

The focus here is on a collaborative, friendly, encouraging community.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a weekend warrior musician who’s only recently restarted making music, or if you’re a Grammy-winning songwriter.

There’s no competition on who’s the best, and it’s all focused on helping you make the best music possible.

2. In-depth courses to give you an all-comprehensive music education ($500 value)

While Recording Revolution specializes in teaching people recording and mixing, I want VIP to have courses on all the aspects of music that are crucial to music success.

Here’s a sneak peek of the courses inside:

Live Performance:
"How to Prepare, Execute and Enjoy Playing Live"

It’s great to make a radio-worthy track you can share with people. But if you’ve made a song, you probably want to perform it live as well, right?

However, performing live is just like public speaking. A few people are lucky enough to have some talent in it and it’s natural for them. For others, it’s as painful as pulling a tooth out.

So here’s what you’ll discover inside this course:

  • How to prepare a great live set, whether it’s just a couple songs, or an entire hour long performance
  • The classic mistakes to avoid when performing live
  • Why being nervous before performing is actually a good thing, and can be a massive advantage
  • What to do to emotionally move a crowd with your performance
  • The best pre-performance rituals to keep you from messing anything up
  • And much more...

"How to go from free to paid work as a musician:"

Now if you’re an aspiring mixing engineer or producer, you’re going to love this course. In this course, you’ll be taught:

  • The 3 biggest myths stopping people from earning a living from music
  • How to stand out from the crowded music market and have people pay you instead of someone else
  • My tested and proven 3 step action plan to get you started on your music income that’s worked for over 1000 students of mine
  • An exact, word-for-word email template you can send to get your first work projects to build your portfolio and reputation
  • And that’s just a sneak peek of the content - there’s much more inside the course itself

"Understanding the Music Industry and Discovering Your Artist DNA" by ill Factor from Beat Academy

This course is a sweet hookup from my good friend inside the music industry, ill Factor. He’s a Grammy-nominated producer who’s worked with Sia, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Justin Derulo, and many other artists. Whenever I’ve got questions on the music industry, or on music production, he’s my go-to guy.

And he’s agreed to share his course on how to understand the music industry and discover what he calls your “artist DNA” - your unique sound and influences that are the driving force behind the music you create.

Inside this course, you’ll be taught:

  • How the music industry actually works, from an actual music industry insider.
  • How artists get paid and generate consistent income from their music
  • The 2 different types of royalties you can make from your music
  • Music publishing 101 - how the royalties and shares of a song are split (understanding this is key to make sure there’s no legal/publishing troubles down the line!)
  • 4 ways songwriters can get paid in the real world. This is real, actionable material that you’ll be able to apply with any songs that you have, and not just abstract music business theory.
  • 5 simple ways producers can monetise the music they’re making
  • The 3 things that make up your “Artist DNA”, and how they can create a specific niche for you inside your genre of music
  • Music marketing 101 - How to set up your music marketing funnel that turns people who’ve never come across your music, into loyal, loving fans (it’s simpler than you think)

And he goes into much more detail on all of this inside the course - this is killer content that you’d be hard pressed to find online.

"Writing Choruses & Hooks" by Martin Sutton from Songwriting Academy

Martin is the head coach at Songwriting Academy, the UK’s #1 songwriting coaching company. He’s worked with artists like Celine Dion, the Backstreet Boys, and various others, and he’s agreed to share his course on how to write killer hooks and choruses with VIP members.

Inside the course, you’ll discover:

  • 5 simple techniques to make your choruses engaging, captive and memorable
  • When to start a song with a chorus
  • How to create a hook that stays in a listener’s head for days after they’ve heard your song
  • Where to get ideas for killer choruses and hooks
  • An unconventional, but intuitive way of writing a great chorus
  • And much, much more

A song’s success is often decided by how good its choruses and hooks are.

If your chorus isn’t able to grab a listener’s attention, and keep them hooked on your song, it’s game over.

But with this course, you’ll leave it knowing how to make your choruses and hooks catchy and memorable, without struggling with any writer’s block.

And inside the VIP members area, there’s also courses for beginners on how to get started with DAWs, such as Pro Tools, Ableton Live and Logic Pro.

I’ve also brought in Taylor Swift’s former manager, Rick Barker, to give a course on the “9 Steps to Launching Your Independent Music Career”.

And as it’s a community site, you’ll be able to suggest and vote on the topics for upcoming courses. You won’t be getting any cookie-cutter courses here, just relevant, tested and proven content that’ll solve your music issues quickly and easily.

3. Monthly Q&A webinars with me ($150 value)

Once a month, I’ll be holding a live Q&A call where you’ll be able to ask me any questions you have related to music.

And if you can’t make the timing because you’re busy or due to timezone issues, don’t worry. I’ll be recording every single call and uploading it onto the members area, and you’ll also be able to send in your questions beforehand.

And occasionally, I’ll even bring on friends of mine who are producers, artist managers, people from my network that you’ll be able to get effective answers and advice from.

This is huge if you’ve ever wanted to get plugged into the mindset of people who have worked in the music industry for years.

4. Monthly Recording & Mixing Challenges with Attractive Prizes ($200 value)

Once a month, there’ll be a challenge for you to record and mix a song. Now, this isn’t a competition - it’s a challenge, and it’s meant to keep you regularly making music from your home studio.

And I’ll be picking the winner randomly, which means that even if your mix isn’t the best, it still has a chance of winning.

And if you just stuck with this challenge for a year, you’d have 12 songs written, mixed and produced at the end of it, much more than most aspiring musicians out there.

5. Exclusive discounts and offers on Recording Revolution Courses and Products ($300 value)

As the name suggests, you’ll literally be a VIP of Recording Revolution, which means that you’ll get access to discounts and offers on Recording Revolution products that won’t be available to the public.

Plus, if you’re learning about how to network in music, or how to perform live, you’ll also want to learn how to record and mix radio-ready songs from your bedroom or home studio, right?

So as you can see: I’ve really gone all out to make VIP the go-to community and resource for musicians today.

I’m guessing right now you’re probably wondering,
“How much does VIP cost?”

Well, how much do you think having a supportive community of like-minded individuals helping you make music is worth?

All while being given information on crucial, forgotten aspects of music that aren’t taught online?

Realistically - there’s only a few other current options out there for something like this:

Option 1: Going to audio or music school. Like I've previously said, a formal education can work really well. I personally learned a ton about recording and mixing from going to audio school.

However, it can cost tens of thousands of dollars, and you even might have to move cities and away from friends and family to do so.

At the same time, while you can leave with a network of friends to work and collaborate with, the often competitive atmosphere of music school can prevent that from happening.

Option 2: Be mentored by someone in the music industry and get plugged into their network. But to get this, you'd have to knock on countless studio doors, send emails that never get opened, and face rejection until someone lets you in.

But unless you're living in a major music city like Miami, New York, London or L.A, finding such a mentor alone can be very difficult.

Option 3: Just go at it by yourself through trial and error. This can work, but the chances of it working are incredibly low.

And let’s think about it: If there was a magic switch you could flip right now to make the music you want, instantly, how much would you pay for it? A hundred dollars? A thousand dollars? Ten thousand?

VIP is a fraction of that cost, and it’s even less than going to the movies once a month.

And because we’re most likely to have at least a thousand members signing up, I wanted to use the sales of VIP to go back and help those who’ve always wanted to learn music, but never had the privilege of doing so.

That’s why 10% of all VIP sales will be going to charities that help the less privileged get access to music education, instruments, etc.

The charity we're currently supporting is VH1 Save the Music Foundation, which is a charity that has helped over 2,000 schools over the USA start music programs that have impacted millions of children.

And also because I’m celebrating my YouTube channel recently hitting 400k subscribers, today, right now for a limited time only, I’ve got a special gift for you.

Until 22nd June Midnight PDT, I’ll be giving anyone who joins VIP a free month to try it out, and see if it’s the right fit, no strings attached.

That’s right - you don’t have to pay anything upfront at all.

And if you try out VIP and within the first 30 days of your membership you’re not happy with it, or for any reason at all you don’t think it’s the community you need to take your music to the next level, just email me and my team will cancel your membership, and you won’t even be billed a single cent.

And if after the free month you’ve decided to stay on for VIP, it’s just a single payment of $60/year ($5/month) for Annual Membership.

This really is a no-brainer decision.

There’s no risk on your shoulders at all, and you can try it out for free for a month before you decide if you want to stay on or not.

Just click on the button below to secure your spot, fill in your details and you’ll be able to access the members area in just a minute or two from now.

Once you’ve gone through the checkout process, you’ll be immediately directed to the welcome page for new VIP members. No fuss, no mess.

And if you just stay for the free month - I’m completely fine with that too.

I’ve created VIP to give back, and if you can get some collaborations done during the free trial, and make some connections? I’m happy for that too.

So here’s what you’re getting today:

  • Exclusive access to the private VIP Community Forum ($400 value)

  • Monthly Q&A webinars with me ($150 value)

Total value = $1450

Q: How does the free month offer work?

If you join VIP now, you’ll have a free 30 day trial to see the community, check out the courses, join in the live Q&A calls and see if it’s the right fit for you. After the 30 day free trial ends, you’ll be billed at $60/year for an Annual Membership.

Q: I’m starting music again after years of just playing it occasionally, will this help me?

Whether you’re starting to pick up the guitar again, and want to make some songs, or if you’re a pro at the top of your game, VIP will help you connect with other musicians all around the world. So the answer is yes - it’ll help anyone with an interest in music immensely.

Q: Why are you pricing VIP so cheaply at just $60/year, or $5/month?

My purpose with creating VIP isn’t to get rich - it’s to make a music network as accessible as possible to people all over the world. VIP is priced so that anyone with a basic budget can join it, to get the network, opportunities and feedback they need to take their music to the next level.

Q: I’m not as interested in recording and mixing as much as I am about other topics like songwriting, music production, how the music industry works, etc. Will VIP be of any use to me?

While Recording Revolution specializes in recording and mixing courses, VIP is different in that I want it to be the go-to resource for all musicians online. So all those topics and more will all be inside VIP’s course catalogue eventually.

Q: Will the price of VIP ever increase?

I’m not sure on that, honestly. If the content of VIP keeps growing and growing, I might have to increase the prices down the line. However, if you stay on after the current free month trial offer, your low price of just $60/year will be locked in for life.

Q: I’m an artist/producer/band member/songwriter looking to enter the music industry. Will VIP help me with this?

Yes. Inside VIP, you’ll be able to collaborate and connect with other musicians, to produce high quality tracks that you can use to pitch to record or publishing companies. VIP also contains specific courses on how to succeed as an independent artist, as well as how to understand and enter the music industry properly.
